This place was great! The place itself was very cozy, not too loud, very laid back. The walls have writing on the walls from each visitor and where they are from, or write what you want, bring your own sharpie, lol. U can sit inside or outside, it was a beautiful day for us so we were outside and enjoyed the views! The food is mostly burgers cooked to your liking, might have a few other items, I posted a pic of the menu, the burgers were/are awesome! Cooked just right, had a nice crisp on the edge, was juicy and had great flavor, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and they put enough bacon on it so that each bite was bacon filled. The onion rings were great as well, fries, super hot, fresh, u clean up after yourself, so you will spend on average of $11 each so the price is slightly high but as long as my food is great then it's worth it! I will definitely be back to visit again!! Enjoy! Eat a burger for me,lol!
Food was great, different inside than expected. Funky inside where you can write on the walls with marker. Staff was super nice and pleasent. If you want burgers that a good, greasy and big eat here.
Really wonderful burgers and fries!!! There was also a bar with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, ketchup and mustard which was a pleasure to discover. Very lovely lunch and the price was really good!
Maggie's is one of the coolest cafes I've ever been to. Really diverse selection of burgers, vegan, game brats to name a few. The fries are excellent, well cooked and not too salty. We got their catfish po' boy and green chili cheeseburger and both were quite good.
I love the food her it is amazing the staff is amazing eat here
Good burger, but not the best dining experience. Three stars for the quick service/outdoor seating with views/decent food, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stop by again. My mom got a bacon burger and I got a cheeseburger. The food came very quickly, and the toppings served with made it fairly decent. The burger itself was pretty greasy and the fries were nothing special. I wish I had gotten coleslaw instead. Not sure if just covid specific, but I have to agree with a previous reviewer that the staff was fairly rude and visibly frustrated when it took my mom a minute to understand the chalk menu. They had lots of handwritten signs with messages (ex. “Don’t touch anything!!!” “Don’t lean on this!!” “Out of onions from recall”). Kitchen was kind-of a mess. Didn’t really feel welcome and the food wasn’t memorable enough for me to want to return. My mom left not impressed.
I went in for 2 burgers. They ended up charging 15 dollars extra on a 25 dollar meal tops. Food was gross by the way. Then when I called them out on the overcharge the entire staff had to gather together to do basic arithmetic to figure out they did in fact overcharge me. They had to do it twice because they got it wrong the second time by 7 dollars. They behaved like I inconvenience them. Will never come back and recommend nobody ever go there again. You will be ripped off if they get the chance.
Unfortunately we had a bad experience with staff and food Saturday, we dropped by for food on our way to a funeral. Understandably due to the pandemic a staff member told us the city didn’t want us there or traveling. It was a weird statement to make without us initiating conversation. My husband had a patty melt and loved it, I had an elk burger. My husband indicated he didn’t know how the elk burger should be ordered because it had been a while since he ordered one but there was no guidance from staff just the need to get us out the door. My burger was pretty much rubber and both our fries were super cold. I wound up going somewhere else for food and throwing it away. The whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth. Because my husband liked his patty melt and I’m still trying to understand the way we were treated I’ll still give the restaurant the benefit of 4 stars despite my doubts that I’ll be back here again when visiting family in the future.
Food is mediocre and the toppings( lettuce and tomatoes ) all come inside a plastic bag that looks like they were cut days ago. One star for the behavour of the staff toward customers. While at the place I seen one staff act needlessly mean toward many people including mocking a older couple for having trouble seeing. I have no clue how this place could have such a good reviews. Perhaps this employee is new? I would not give this place any money until he is gone.
A Ouray classic! Delish burgers, sammies & veggie options. The black bean burger is tasty & they keep toppings stocked by the window to let you add leafy greens, tomatoes, onions & pickles. Pro tip: order, walk next door for a drink & enjoy the combo in either place or on the shared porch
Very unique atmosphere, great prices and large potions. Huge menu to choose from. Veggie burger, elk burger and brats, buffalo burger. Floats and shakes. Service was fast and accurate. Definently one of the more unique places in town to go especially on a lower budget. Recommended.
Good burger and nice service. The place could use a bit of decorating though
After a long drive to Ouray we were looking forward to eating at Maggie’s again-discovered it last year and thought it was great.Due to the fact we didn’t have a mask to go inside and order the “waiter” got nasty with us and told us we could just leave, he didn’t care - they didn’t need our business! He actually threatened to call the cops if we didn’t. Didn’t bother to tell us we could order and they would bring it to us outside.Being seniors and diabetic and needing to eat, this rude young man has no clue how ugly he made this experience for us. So much hate in this world. Certainly not the way to be a solution but only be another contributor to the problems.Shame on you
Excellent food and excellent service great staff
.....let me tell you that burger that thing at me at least half Chubbed 😂. they are doing great I think for this pandemic going on and they seem like actually people with personality, and it's right off the main road so easy to get to. I would like to go there again when this pandemic is over.
All the employees were super kind, the food tasted so good.
Fun environment. I tried the Elk burger and enjoyed it. Graffiti on walls is a bit overdone. So much has been overwritten that much of it can't be read anymore. I'd definitely go back.
This place was a wonderful stop for lunch in Ouray. The food is amazing (mushroom, Swiss, onion burger/chicken nuggets/hot dog/bacon cheeseburger), the service is fast, and the view is spectacular. The seating out front is first come, first served. You walk in to order and they bring it outside and call your name. The only drinks they had were beer, DR. P, Pepsi, and diet Pepsi when we were there.
The food was tasty and a great price compared to other places in town. A family of 6 for $65 out the door for dinner was awesome. The buffalo and elk burgers were very good. Their fries are seriously delicious. I had a black bean burger that was a generous size and perfectly cooked. The coleslaw portion was actually a good size too. All the things my family ordered were cooked properly and everyone got to put toppings on their burgers the way they liked them. Bonus - bring a sharpie and find a place to make your mark!
Mean, dirty, offensive people. And I'm not sure where the positive food ratings come from. The enforcer inside the door goes out of his way to insult customers, injecting his politics with no provocation. This place is simply not needed in this world.
Serrano bacon cheeseburgers are my fave!! 🍔🧡💚💛 One of the best burger places in the country.
Fabulous burgers. Fun decor. We have to visit every time we are in Ouray.
A no-frills, just good food kinda place. Great service, very reasonable prices, and tasty burgers! Ours were cooked perfectly and so flavorful! Every menu item comes with fries or coleslaw. Get the ranch to dip your fries in-- you won't regret it. No table service; order up front, find a seat, and grab your food when they call you. Would definitely come back!
Best Patty Melt EVER!!! A must stop to eat when in Ouray, Colorado
Great little burger shop. Fries were perfectly crispy and burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. Just don't jump when the cook yells out your name like I did. Would definitely go back
The burgers were too greasy! Even my car contains less oil.. Nice decorations/you can write on everything. But burgers were not a positive meal :(
The best burgers in Ouray, love this place. Service was fast and the staff was friendly and definitely on top of keeping things cleaned between customers.
A nice little place to stop for burgers. The quality left a little to be desired, but the variety of the menu was fun and the atmosphere friendly. I always enjoy places where they let people sign the walls and tables, it gives the place a real community feeling.
So good! Great service and fast 💨
Great burger, will not disappoint! FRIES ARE AMAZING
I rarely leave reviews but we didn’t have a good experience at all, so I felt it was worth sharing. I can sympathize that it must be difficult running a restaurant during a pandemic, but the man running the restaurant stood there barking at everyone who entered the restaurant about the (very extensive) list of rules. I would gladly follow any rules they asked of me, without being treated that way. He had two young girls also standing there, also speaking with disrespect to patrons. The food was good enough but I just felt unwelcome and unwanted the entire time.
It was a good burger but bacon was way too hard and had to be removed from the burger to eat it. Fries were decent. Portions were huge. Onion rings looked hand battered which was cool. After we ordered food to go(an hour before close) another waitress came up to us and told us sorry, kitchen was closed, which seemed weird to us that they'd close the kitchen on a burger joint an hour before close. Also didnt get the bbq sauce that was supposed to come with the 420 burger.
Walking into Maggie’s started off with a girl telling us loudly and rudely to follow the arrows on the floor, while we were instinctively looking up and around trying to orient ourselves to the inside of the dark restaurant, made even darker by writings and drawings on every surface. The same girl waited rudely while we looked over the huge chalkboard menu expecting us to know instantly what we wanted. Don’t touch this, don’t do that, don’t dare go here, don’t even think of coming back downstairs, are just a few of the handwritten signs taped up everywhere. Nothing about the place was friendly or welcoming. I’m not sure why we went ahead and ate there, they didn’t deserve our tourist dollars, and sure acted like they didn’t even need us or want us. The food was just ok, anyone could of made it. I won’t go where I’m not welcome and I won’t be going back to Maggie’s.
The best place in town to eat! Best onion rings, and best bacon cheeseburger ever!
Worst place in Ouray! Literally walked by and someone yelled we're not open! Yet people are outside literally getting their food. Either racist or completely rude. Will never be back.
C’mon google, where is the zero star option? Went in because the name of the place (the adjacent Mr. Grumpypants Brewery) seemed humorous, but then once inside the restaurant side we decided we didn’t really want the food being served (it was just counter service) and the host made some rude remarks about exiting their line, so I decided to post this review. I know this establishment does not rely on repeat customers, being a destination restaurant, but I’m glad we decided not to patronize this business. When the host mentions that they are closing in 20 minutes and brags that they have reached the quota for the day and doesn’t care about more sales, it kinda makes you wonder how good the food is going to be at the end of the day. If you read this far go somewhere else. The Thai restaurant down the block and across the street is excellent and so is a pb&j sammich, so avoid this place if you don’t want to feel unwelcome.
I have had some pretty good burgers from places, but this was the best one hands down. I'm sure the next time that my family and i are in Ouray, we will be eating here a couple of times.
An institution when it comes to burgers, Maggie's never fails to disappoint. Worth the trip to Ouray. Personal favorite is the Serrano chili cheeseburger with bacon, and the pictures below show the 420 burger. 10/10 would recommend.
EXCELLENT BURGER!! Had Green chili Burger and fries. Delicious!! Small venue come early.
Quick, friendly, good views, good food. Buffalo burger cooked just right. A fun place to eat all around
The food is good! The owner, not so much. Watched him yell profanities at a customer with children throughout the patio because the customer would not put his face mask on. The customer left the restaurant, only to be followed up the street by the owner (without his mask on!) continuing to yell at the family. The owner had his teenage daughter follow him up the street with cell phone in hand to record any confrontation he were to get in. Horrible business practice. When law enforcement responded, he was very rude and combative with law enforcement as well. We do not know the owner, nor the fellow customers, we just happened be eating in the restaurant at the time this all happened. I will not be returning due to profanities used towards customers over a mask, his disrespect for law enforcement, and his abrasiveness.
Definitely a 5 star burger. Has everything you want.
Great value burgers and customer service
Great food and atmosphere...even though COVID 19 is a thing, they're still feeding Ouray with a smile!
EAT HERE! Hands down, the best burger and fries I’ve ever had!!! We were in town for the weekend and ate here everyday. Hand made big fat cheesy bacony deliciousness. And the fries are actually potatoes, cut and fried to perfection. Fantastic! People were great too. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool concept, writing all over the walls and ceiling! The burgers were amazing. I had the green Chile burger and it was really, really good.
Your burgers & fries hit the spot...y'all did a great job
They have a great, healthy alternative to dine-in service due to the pandemic. Four of us ordered burgers, fries and drinks from here for dinner. The burgers were very tasty and everything was clean and sanitized. 💯
Two words would sum up this establishment, ARROGANT and RUDE! I wish I wouldn’t have spent my hard earned money here. We had just hiked Box canyon and the four of us had our hearts set on a great hamburger. They barked rudely at where you should walk when entering the dark restaurant. They were impatient as you tried to decipher the menu. My 10 year old grandsons mask slipped down under his nose (heaven forbid) and they chastised him. A lot of rude handwritten signs. Very left leaning ones too. Capitalist businesses shouldn’t be offending half of their paying customers. Oh yeah, the food was disappointing too. Everybody cooks a burger at home 10 times better than Maggies.
Yum!!!!! A true must stop to eat place in Ouray, Co..!!!! Will always return for the amazing Patty Melt, Fry's and slaw... Thanks Maggies Kitchen!!!
